God has implanted in Peter Mang a vision to plant churches that plant churches across Yangon Region. Having received the confirmation of God’s call to start a new church, and on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, Peter Mang and his family moved to the 7 Quarter, Hlaingtharyar, Yangon. They had to stay in rented small rooms, small bungalow, tiny apartment and houses among the multi-ethnic communities of Hlaingtharyar. The fund is established with a self-support.
Dr. David Vumzalian and Joshua Lian have taken part in the work of church planting, which enabled us to have teaching ministry that is fruitful and effective. God has been blessing the gospel ministry with new converts from other faith or non-faith coming to faith in Christ. Then we organized small groups and started house churches at different locations. The follow-up family discipleship, family support ministry, and fellowships and prayer meetings are functioning on a regular basis.
On September 23, 2012, Agape Church conducted its first corporate worship service at a rented 2-storey house of Agape Mission Center, located in 13 Quarter, Hlaingtharyar. We began functioning Children’s ministry, gathering on Sunday on a regular basis, and inspiring a true Christian life. Three months later a mission center was closed due to financial restraints. However, we continued functioning house churches and God added more saved believers to Agape Church.
On September 8, 2013, under a godly leadership of Dr. David Vumzalian, we relaunch a corporate worship at the new location. Worship services were conducted at a rented apartment located in 6 Quarter, Hlaingtharyar. Four months later, a rented apartment was closed due to prohibiting restraints, and then we have only got to continue to function with small groups and house churches.
Though much trials and temptations, financial obstacles, prohibiting restraints a church has faced, when we recapture our tremendous responsibility “to care of the church of God, which He purchased with His own blood”(Acts 20:28), we commit ourselves to live in obedience to the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.
