Agape Leaders live by faith, walk in truth, lead with purpose, act with character, and serve in love. These character traits are the DNA of Agape Leadership.

Executive Team

Rev. Peter T. Mang

Founder and President

Peter T. Mang is an ordained minister, visionary strategist, instructor, master trainer and facilitator, leadership and executive coach, ministry and leadership consultant, biblical counselor, mission mobilizer, discipler, and catalyst for business as mission and transformational development.

With over 18 years of professional experience, including 16 years in fulltime ministry, Peter T. Mang has served in multicultural missions, church planting, pastoral and ministry leadership, nonprofit leadership, and business and professional services. He has worked with people from different backgrounds, families, churches, ministries, companies, academics, and organizations. His experiences spans evangelism and discipleship, personal and career growth, spiritual and moral formation, marital and family wellbeing, children and youth development, mission mobilization, church multiplication, leadership and executive development, training and development, organizational development, entrepreneurship, and community transformation.

In June 2009, Peter began to serve as an itinerant Evangelist, sharing the gospel with unreached people in remote villages and cities across Ayeyarwady Region. In September 2011, he began pursuing God’s call to church planting and planted house churches in Yangon. Agape Church Planting was initially started as a church planting ministry at the initiative of Agape Mission in September 2011, with the purpose of multiplying healthy disciples, churches, and leaders in every community in Myanmar.

Tony Za Thang

Executive Director of Training and Development

Tony serves as Executive Director of Equipping at Agape Church Planting and Executive Director of School of Missions and Church Planting at Agape University. He is called and gifted to equip God’s people to do His work and build up His church. Pursuing God’s call on his life, Tony also serves as an adjunct professor at The Judson College and Seminary in Yangon.

Tony was born in Matupi town, southern Chin State, Myanmar. He trusted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and Lord at age 14. He is a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ. He served as Associate Pastor and Youth Leader at Matupi Gospel Baptist Church in Matupi, Chin State. Tony is a youth leader at Gospel Baptist Church of Thamine in Yangon.

Tony holds a Bachelor of Theology and Master of Divinity from Logos College of Theology in Trivandrum City, Kerela State, India, and a Master of Theology from Koinonia Baptist Seminary in Yangon, Myanmar.

Rev. Gam Hpang

Executive Director of Church Planting

Rev. Gam Hpang is an Executive Director of Church Planting at Agape Church Planting. He serves as the Pastor of Shalom Brethren Church in Mandalay, Associate Secretary of Mandalay Christian Churches Fellowship, Chairman of Central Myanmar Brethren Churches Fellowship, and Logistics Coordinator of Operation Christmas Child in Mandalay. Rev. Gam Hpang has over 25 years of experience in church planting among ethnic groups and over 20 years of experience in pastoral ministry, ministry leadership, and organizational leadership. He is married to Sayama Seng Nan and they have four grown children.

As the Executive Director of Church Planting, Rev. Gam Hpang focuses on helping Agape Church Planting fulfill our Agape Vision 2033 strategic church planting goals to establish 300 healthy churches in every community in Myanmar by the end of 2033. In addition, he coordinates a nationwide network of leaders with the Myanmar Church Planting Network to strengthen leaders, mobilize churches, and multiply churches to accelerate church planting in Myanmar.

Responsibilities include recruiting and assessing potential church planters, overseeing Regional Coordinators and Church Planters, supervising church planting internship and apprenticeship, assessing church planting strategy, developing and implementing church launch, supporting church growth and multiplication, working closely with the leadership team of Agape Church Planting to successfully execute business operations of the church planting organization in alignment with its purpose, vision, mission, and values.

Board of Directors

Dr. David Vum Za Lian

Dr. David is the Senior Pastor of Gospel Baptist Church in Mayangone, Yangon. He currently serves as Director of Ebenezar Education dedicated to providing continuing education for disciplers, church planters, pastors, ministry leaders, and missionaries. He served as professor of Church Music, Evangelism and Church Planting, and Director of Missions at Gospel Baptist Bible Seminary in Yangon.

Rev. Joshua Tha Cung Lian

Joshua is a pastor of Gospel Baptist Church in East Dagon, Yangon. He has over two decades of experience in teaching ministry and served as a lecturer in Bible colleges and theological seminaries and as a church planter in Yangon.

Prof. Samuel Thian Nai Muang

Samuel is a professor of Theology and Biblical Language at Koinonia Baptist Seminary and Faith Baptist Theological Seminary in Yangon. He served as a missionary among unreached people groups in Shan State, Myanmar.

Rev. Peter T. Mang

Peter serves full-time as Founder and Visionary Strategist of Agape Vision Global and its multifaceted strategic initiatives Agape Mission, Agape Group, Agape Church Planting, Agape University, and Agape Foundation. He serves part-time in senior leadership roles in several organizations including Gospel Baptist Church of Thamine, Myanmar Church Planting Network, Association of Independent Churches of Myanmar, Agape Entrepreneurship Association, and Business as Mission (BAM) Myanmar. Peter is a Training Partner with World Serving Leaders, Expansion Coordinator at Crossover Global, and BAM Global Catalyst for BAM Myanmar. He also enjoys working with several international organizations at the local, national, regional, and international levels. Peter currently leads the creation of Myanmar Council for Accreditation and Accountability a national, faith-based accreditation and accountability association dedicated to enhancing trust in Christ-centered institutions in Myanmar.
